This could be Old Torrance, Sartori Street

Ultimately BikeWalkSouthBay would like to see more places like this street market, all over the South Bay, open everyday.

Ultimately, we’d like to see large portions of the big box retailers parking lots turned into public plazas : )

In the mean time, being the realists that we are, we’re happy to encourage folks to leave their cars at home more often and go “car lite”, walking or biking to get their groceries, to get their hair cut, to go out to eat. We believe this is already fairly easy to do in most areas of the South Bay and can get easier over time with more public support.

This is not some crazy dream. Groups of citizens are rising up all over the world saying they’re tired of having to get into their cars to take care of the most basic of everyday tasks. They’re saying they want places that are scaled for people and not for cars, they’re saying enough is more than enough! And all over the world change is happening. (Examples coming here soon.)

In the words of Jonathan Richman: “I want them to bring back that old corner store.”
